Excellent Quality
I've almost made it through the small set. The dilators are soft and smooth, easy to use and feel like excellent quality. Only thing I regret is not getting this sooner. Hoping to see more progress soon. The largest size seems extremely large and unnecessary but might be useful for others. Customer service is prompt and helpful too.

Dilators
My physical therapist recommended the dilators along with the wand for a tight pelvic floor. Three weeks into therapy I’m working my way to the larger ones. They are pretty “life like” and so much better than ridged plastic.

Great!
Very helpful. Once I realized my psychological barriers were the biggest issue and that this process would help correct that I was very intentional about relaxing and trusting in the process. I am quickly progressing thru the dilators.

What is Vaginismus?
Vaginismus is a condition where the muscles inside the vagina tighten, close up, or spasm. This tightening is associated with painful vaginal sex or painful vaginal penetration of any kind, such as pain with inserting a tampon or undergoing a gynecologic examination.
You may have vaginismus if you have had any of the following symptoms for at least six months and they cause significant distress:
- Tightening of the muscles inside the vagina making vaginal sex not possible
- A presence of pain (also called dyspareunia) or burning when trying to have vaginal sex
- Not wanting to have vaginal sex because of the pain or expected pain
- Avoiding vaginal sex because of the expected difficulty due to vaginal tightening and/or spasm
- Severe fear of vaginal sex or the pain associated with vaginal sex
-
Symptoms Requiring Professional Assessment
The following symptoms require assessment by a Healthcare Professional prior to purchasing:
- Abnormal vaginal discharge (fluid/material coming out of vagina), such as a discharge that is thick, white, green or yellow, may have bad odor, or is a change in what the discharge usually looks like.
- Abnormal uterine bleeding, such as bleeding between monthly periods or when periods are extremely heavy or prolonged.
- Abnormal skin changes around or inside the vagina, like itching, burning, bumps, or discoloration.
Size Guide
Choosing the right dilator size(s) is important. Our eight progressive sizes allow you to gradually and comfortably progress towards your goal.
Pain with any type of penetration? Start with size 1 (approximately the size of a pinky finger) and work your way up through the Small Dilator Set or until you reach your goal.
Pain with medical exams? In general, if tampon penetration is ok, but exams are painful, size 3 may be appropriate for you, then progressing through the Medium Dilator Set or until you reach your goal.
Pain with intercourse? Consider the Medium Dilator Set for average size penis or Large Dilator Set for larger size penis. Progress through the sizes until you reach your goal.
If You Experience Pain
Once you are able to use the dilator comfortably inside the vagina at 0 or 1 on a pain scale of 0 - 10 (10 being the worst pain imaginable), you will be ready to size up to the next dilator.
If the pain is more than 2 -3 on a scale of 10 when attempting to insert, immediately stop and switch to a smaller size.

When to Size Up or Size Down

health status, a period of high stress, or take a break from dilator training,
you may come back to find it challenging and need to use a smaller size.
Can I Use These on My Period?

A Word From Dr. Amanda
BPA-FREE, NON-STICK, MEDICAL-GRADE SILICONE
People with vaginismus know how important it is to have the smoothest experience when using a vaginal dilator. Unlike the uncomfortable plastic dilators or other sticky silicone dilators, Intimate Rose uses a proprietary finishing process to give the silicone in our vaginal dilators a velvety smooth texture while maintaining enough firmness for people to reach their goals.
A MORE EFFECTIVE SOLUTION WHEN COMBINED
A water based lubricant, such as Velvet Rose Personal Lubricant is a safe and effective solution to vaginal dryness during intercourse, and for maximum comfort when using Intimate Rose products.
